Phillips Avenue to Falls Park

Location
Sioux Falls, SD
Design Elements
Historic Lighting / Gateway Arch / Conflicting Utility Corridors / Public Art

This picturesque two-lane street connects the downtown to the City’s namesake, Falls Park. The street section consists of PCC pavement with a center median, colored sidewalk and colored, stamped crosswalks. The project includes a very extensive drainage collection system with 12” to 60” storm sewer and 6’x4’ and 10’x4’ box culverts. The project also includes sanitary sewer and water main as well as roadway lighting.

The streetscape is enhanced with ornamental trees, shrubs, wrought iron tree planters and a gateway arch. To help maintain the plantings an irrigation system has been installed. Prior to construction, the site underwent soil remediation due to the high levels of contamination.
