Stockwell Engineers was hired to create new viewing platforms and an expanded trail system at the Falls Park along the Big Sioux River.
The project includes two new viewing platforms, a custom railing, and additional concrete trails connecting the platforms to the existing network of trails at the park.
As part of this project, Stockwell performed hydraulic analysis on the current effective model for the Big Sioux River in Sioux Falls. Modifications to the design allowed for Stockwell to achieve a no-rise/ no-impact certification. With this certification the city was allowed to issue a flood plain development permit and ultimately build the new viewing platforms.
