Celebrating Pam’s 40 Years with Stockwell!
We are thrilled to be celebrating Pam’s 40th anniversary at Stockwell!
Pam’s role at Stockwell has evolved significantly over the years. She began her career in a pre-digital era, where she drafted blueprints by hand and managed projects manually. Her expertise spans from drafting to billing and much more—she has truly done it all and witnessed the evolution of her profession and the company over the years.
Her career is dotted with memorable projects. Meeting Rex Stockwell for the first time at T&R Electric and working on Burnside Avenue, her very first project, are particularly special to her. The Marion Road project was a significant challenge, where a rookie mistake taught her resilience and makes for a good laugh now. The Falls Park project is a creative highlight; Pam fondly remembers Rex deciding on walkways based on rock formations—a transformation she now views with pride.
For Pam, the best part of Stockwell is the people. “I’ve been truly blessed with coworkers who comforted and covered for me through the most difficult times of my life,” she shares. The camaraderie and friendships with Rex and Jon, whom she considers more as friends than bosses, have been invaluable. Pam describes the culture at Stockwell as supportive and collaborative, and offers this advice to newcomers: “No job is perfect. You will have good days and bad days; it’s up to you which you’ll have more of.”
Pam balances work and life with weekends in Iowa, where she enjoys some well-deserved downtime. A huge Iowa Hawkeyes fan, she loves cheering on her team and finds joy in Stockwell traditions like the COVID-era Christmas party and recent golf outings.
Reflecting on how she feels about her 40-year milestone, Pam humorously notes, “You mean other than old?” She is amazed by her journey, having started with no knowledge of civil engineering or surveying and evolving into a seasoned professional who has worked on over 1,500 projects. Pam’s journey is a testament to the unexpected paths that lead to fulfilling careers.
As we look back on Pam’s remarkable career, we celebrate her resilience, adaptability, and unwavering dedication. Here’s to Pam—a cornerstone of our team and an inspiration to us all. Cheers to 40 years!
